(NSFW) Being The CEO Of A Porn Site- Porn Series: Anna Richards

Anna Richards has taken the porn industry by storm with her ethically motivated porn site 'FrolicMe'. The entrepreneur developed the platform to encourage a safe working environment and a fair rate of pay for every performer involved in the production. The site has also been tailored to suit a mainly female audience who wish to indulge in pornography without compromising their ethical values towards an industry that continually faces controversy.

The CEO shares with Reflexive her vision to liberate women who simply enjoy porn and stamp out the gender inequalities of the industry...

Firstly, how did you enter the erotic porn world and why did you choose this avenue, opposed to regular porn?

It wasn’t necessarily the world of porn I initially saw myself getting into, you could say I wasn’t stepping into it, rather creating my own as I wasn’t from the industry at all, my approach therefore was refreshing, honest and through female eyes. I quite simply wanted to bring a beauty and my own vision to adult films in the way we see arousing beautiful elegant imagery in photographs. I wanted to give sex a better tasteful online image and present it for the enormously important pleasure it can offer individuals. Frolicme.com was my vision of what I wanted to see and enjoy as a woman.

I couldn’t believe that the Internet was awash with incredibly stylish and erotic imagery, not necessarily explicit but imagery that eludes a certain sensual sexual appeal, but when it came to adult films we debased sex and removed all sense of the erotic. We lost the ability to show the sexiness of erotic imagery to both men and women. I wasn’t, therefore, looking to fit into any particular genre but offer people a meaningful sexual experience they would want to relate to a FrolicMe experience. I certainly wanted to shatter the stereotypical notions of what pornography can achieve. Hence when you log onto Frolicme.com it is unlike any other adult site you might be aware of. It features a platform of erotic adult entertainment, a “go-to” site for women and couples wanting to explore a world of passion and female pleasure where fantasy and erotica are at its heart. I wanted to blend steamy hot x-rated films with great erotic stories, a site where films, words and pictures all fuse together for a trustworthy quality erotic experience online.

As a producer, what are the main issues that you tackle to ensure that the erotica produced is ethical and do you find that other companies claim to be 'ethical' due to the subjectivity of the term 'ethical porn'?

Stepping into this industry I came at it with completely no previous experience. Therefore my approach has always been based on the way I see any working environment to be, an understanding of what the job involves and job satisfaction for all. Fair pay and a happy positive working environment which ultimately will always allow you to achieve the best results, that should be no different in any business. So for me ethical working conditions go without saying. Being ethical in this industry should most definitely stand for a positive collaboration between producers and performers where there is mutual respect, understanding, positive dialogue and also heaps of fun. Likewise from an audience’s perspective it should offer a positive platform that they equally can feel safe to enjoy, and trust sharing the pleasure that has been carefully created with love.

A site that holds those strong values to me is ethical. I can’t speak for all other sites, but how many sites actually put a face to their creativity like I do with Frolicme.com? That in itself speaks volumes.

FrolicMe is labelled as 'porn for girls', why did you focus on targeting females and do you think that women are more concerned than men about ethics when porn is involved?

Historically the world of online porn has always focused more towards the male gaze, where the women are merely there as a vessel to facilitate that pleasure. I wanted to create beautiful arousingly sexy films that weren’t actually focused specifically on either sex, but in order to create the balance and present sex as it should be portrayed, I wanted to bring the understanding and focus about female pleasure. That wasn’t to say that men wouldn’t feel that was the horniest moment thinkable, because they do. Seeing a woman in the throes of sheer ecstasy is mind-blowingly horny. Bringing an understanding and awareness to female pleasure online therefore naturally offers a far more erotic balance to how great sex can be for both involved.

“Seeing a woman in the throes of sheer ecstasy is mind-blowingly horny”.

The term porn for girls does get used as a way of deciphering the interest of the viewer. That doesn’t, however, remove the wealth of interest so many men have for porn and for women too. In fact, just that search term alone is sort by men looking to understand what it is that really turns a woman on.

Why is ethical porn important for our sex lives and do you believe that porn can sometimes elicit 'unrealistic' standards in the bedroom?

It is one of those huge ironies in life that we don’t respect the way sex is portrayed; it is so often cheapened and chastised. Yet it is one of the most fundamental aspects of all our adult lives and is key to how we relate to others and ourselves and supports the bedrock of relationships for many couples. Educating in such a way that the values and benefits sex can offer is very important and an enormous aid for many individuals within their relationships.

Watching sex-positive erotic films such as those I produce can bring better intimacy, excitement, happiness and open dialogue as well as be a huge health and wellness tonic.

When in our busy lives it is hard to “get in the mood” we need ways to help us. We need to find ways to delve into our fantasies and seek that moment of pleasure and release it. Adult films, sexual imagery, erotic stories, sexual toys and accessories all are there to support us as people. However, knowing where you can go to find respectable and ethical erotica online is the tricky bit when the world of search as we know it today is awash with oppressive and degrading imagery that doesn’t support the image of sex as it should be. It is unrealistic and so one-sided.

It is incredibly important that we offer a natural vision of sex, where there is real sexual chemistry and the genuine thrill of a good sexual experience between all those involved. Great sex is about mutual respect and appreciation of each other while seeking and the giving of real intimate pleasure. That doesn’t mean it has to be soft, far from it, sex can be very physical, very fantasy fueled and push boundaries and excitement, but it must always be consensual and respectful between all involved.

What have been your best achievements to date as the FrolicMe founder and what do you love the most about your job?

Since I began in 2015, I have been bowled over by the positive support received. Never a day goes by when I don’t have an inbox of emails from couples and individuals delighted to have found an erotic site they can all equally share and delight in. They often refer to the benefits it has brought to their personal sex lives and how it has enhanced their bond and relationship. That in itself has been a wonderful personal achievement and one I am very proud of.

I have now produced nearly 200 online adult films and publish weekly, have a wealth of erotic stories written by established publishing authors, have beautiful erotic galleries of photographic imagery, an online shop and an erotic magazine covering all sorts of articles and features. Added to which Frolicme.com has been nominated Erotic Site of the Year 2017 & 2018, not bad for a start-up independent. Frolicme.com I feel has found its roots and is well established now as an erotic platform for beautiful but naughty erotica.

From your experiences working with adult performers, what advice would you give to an 18+ performer that is considering entering the porn industry?

It is very much a lifestyle choice and for those I work with, they adore being involved in it and wouldn’t change it, nor do they wish others to impose that change on them. However like any chosen career, it does suit nor would it be suitable for all. So my advice is always think carefully why you wish to be involved and then step in gradually and talk to other performers, listen to what they say. They will provide you with the best advice.
